Emily Ratajkowski Launched a Swimwear Brand

Emily Ratajkowski has proven herself the queen of swimwear—just check her Instagram feed. So, it was only a matter of time before she started making her own. This week, the model finally fulfilled this destiny, launching her first-ever collection of bathing suits, under her very own brand.

Ratajkowski began teasing this endeavor earlier this month. And now, Inamorata Swim kicks of with six different swimsuit styles—a mix of one-pieces and bikinis—in various colors and patterns. The price point for the collection ranges from $75 to $160. Sadly, Emrata’s abs are not included in that cost.

A Californian born and bred, Ratajkowski basically grew up in a swimsuit, so this venture came pretty naturally: ““When I was 16, sometimes I would literally wake up, not put on any clothes, and I’d put on a bathing suit and get coffees and burritos for the day,” she told Vogue. In terms of inspiration, the model drew from Sports Illustrated issues from the ’70s and ’80s, as well as images of the OG supermodels, to guide the design process. As such, there are plenty of high-waisted cheeky bottoms and waist-accenting cutouts and ties throughout the collection.

The collection is ultra-feminine and sexy—a style of dress that Ratajkowski firmly stands behind. “Our society tells women we can’t be, say, sexy and confident and opinionated about politics,” she wrote in Glamour last year. “This would allow us too much power. Instead our society asks us to declare and defend our motivations, which makes us second-guess them, all while men do what they please without question.”

Inamorata Swim is Ratajkowki’s first solo collection. (She has previously collaborated on capsule collections with brands like The Kooples.) Though it’s not the typical inaugural fashion venture, it makes sense for the model’s lifestyle—not only is she L.A.-based, but she spends a lot of time in a swimsuit, per her Instagram, so you know it’s a category she’s already familiar with. Though the company launched with only six styles, we can expect her to release more styles after all of her followers buy up her inaugural.
