Lili Reinhart Just Shut Down Breakup Rumors With Her Birthday Poem for Cole Sprouse

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse reportedly broke up this month after two years of dating—though the two quickly took to social media to troll the “sources” that put the story out there. And on Sunday (August 4), Reinhart posted a lovey-dovey poem she wrote for Sprouse in honor of the actor’s 27th birthday—seemingly single-handedly shutting down all those breakup rumors.

The Riverdale co-stars have a thing for social media public displays of affection, and it seems like they’re going to stick to their habits. On Sunday morning, Reinhart posted a photo of Sprouse wearing a hat and lounging around with a cigarette. She then included a sweet poem she wrote for him, joking that it was a “sappy nighttime birthday poem.” It goes:

“I tried to find a poem
that I could send to you.
Because my words were failing me.
But I searched and found nothing that did you justice.
All of these love poems can’t get it right.
No one else’s words could ever fit.
They haven’t known the fortune it is to love you.”

Judging by this, their joint W magazine cover, and how the two addressed the break-up news on Instagram, it seems like these two are still together (or had the world’s most amicable breakup). Over a photo of their joint W magazine last week, shortly after the rumors broke, Reinhart wrote, “BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know shit.” Sprouse later joked, “UNPRECEDENTED: Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart consume the flesh of ‘reliable sources’ to fuel their bacchanalian sex cult.”

This might be as close as we get to confirmation, but until they explicitly say they’re still together, it’s a bit unclear exactly where they stand. Still, they’ve both stressed that what they really want is for some of the attention to be taken off of their romance. “We’re acknowledging that we’re in a relationship, but it’s a small part of who we are as people,” Reinhart said in the W magazine article. “We want our own separate identities.”
