Taylor Swift Just Dropped Her 'Ready for It' Video, and It's Bananas

“Ready for It” has been instrumental in getting people on board with Taylor Swift’s new era. Let’s face it: Not everyone loves “Look What You Made Me Do.” It’s sonically strange and doesn’t offer much in terms of a chorus. “Ready for It,” however, is the total opposite. Yes, she raps on the song—which is regrettable—but it’s catchy, fun, and features some of her wittiest lyrics to date. (“But if he’s a ghost, then I can be a phantom”—I mean, come on.) It’s arguably the fan-favorite out of the three Reputation tunes released so far.

So naturally, the expectations for the music video were through the roof, and the tease Swift dropped earlier this week exceeded them all. From those 10 seconds, it seemed like Swift was dipping into “Bad Blood” waters again. The clip looked futuristic, badass, and downright terrifying at times. At one point, her eyes turned neon blue like she was some kind of robot. She also appeared to be naked in several frames—a detail that drove the Internet absolutely berserk.

And now that we’ve seen the video, we can confirm all these details are true. Yes, it’s a sibling of sorts to “Bad Blood.” Yes, she does play a freaky cyborg. And, yes, she’s kinda naked. For long stretches of time! Check it out for yourself, below:

The video is certainly Swift’s most ambitious and provocative yet. Then again, that’s exactly what the Reputation era’s all about: It’s boundary-pushing, defiant, emotional, and dizzying. Maybe the Old Taylor really is dead after all.

We only have a few more weeks before Reputation drops. Who’s ready for it? (Pun intended.)
