Police Ask for Help Identifying Suspect in Food Theft at Timberlea Grocery Store

The police in Wood Buffalo are asking for help from the public identifying a suspect involved in food theft at a local grocery store in Timberlea. The man was caught on surveillance video and he made off with a cart loaded with meats, cheeses, and seafood. It was not until store personnel were alerted by another shopper who witnessed the suspect load up the cart and then leave without paying that the store reviewed their camera footage and then contacted the police. There are people who need help with food but stealing is not the answer, and there are many resources available in the community that can help out if residents face a food shortage for some reason. Police have released video that shows the suspect and are asking anyone who knows this man to come forward with this information.

The food theft occurred at the Timberlea Save On Foods, and it happened at around 6 p.m. Om March 19, 2016. The suspect was seen loading the stolen groceries into a silver Chevrolet Tahoe vehicle and the video footage shows that three other people helped the suspect load the food into his vehicle. The video shows that the suspect entered the store shortly before 6 p.m. with an empty cart. The man went to the meat section and grabbed random packages, then hit the cheese section where he grabbed several bricks of cheese. Next the suspect grabbed bags of frozen prawns before returning to the meat section for more meat. After this the man simply pushed the loaded cart out the door and placed all of the stolen groceries in his vehicle before driving away.

Timberlea Drug Bust Leads to Fentanyl Seizure, 2nd Time this Powerful Opioid Drug has Been Seized Within a Few Days in the Area

A day after two drug raids resulted in the seizure of hundreds of rounds of ammunition, two handguns, and drugs that included over 100 tablets of the powerful pain medication fentanyl as well as a small amount of cocaine Wood Buffalo police engaged in another drug bust which seized around 200 fentanyl pills plus about $2,000 in cash. Is Wood Buffalo going through an opioid abuse epidemic? From recent events it is clear that there is a drug problem in the community. According to a news release by the Wood Buffalo RCMP the drug raid took place at a residence on Honeysuckle Way, and two individuals were arrested after the residence was searched. In addition to the cash and the fentanyl pills police also seized a 9mm pistol and also 10 grams of cocaine.

After the Timberlea drug bust and the seizure of 200 fentanyl pills operations officer Mark Hancock released a statement that read “Wood Buffalo RCMP and its’ partners are committed to ongoing efforts to reduce the drug trade in this community and making it a priority to deal with offender.” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. George Cameron said “It seems to be the topic of the day. Years ago, for instance, you’d hear about hash oil and hash….but now we’re hearing (Fentanyl) more.” Fentanyl is an opioid drug that is more powerful than morphine, and more dangerous when abused or misused. Health agencies and police across Canada have raised the alarm about the increase in fentanyl on the street and the dangers that this drug poses.

Possible Steroid Production Lab in Timberlea Shut Down by RCMP

A possible steroid production lab in Timberlea has been shut down by the RCMP.. Early in December the RCMP performed a raid in Timberlea and the raid resulted in charges against Daniel Dube, a 27 year old resident. The charges included drugs and firearms offenses. The raid occurred on December 7, 2014, when there was a search warrant executed at the address. The warrant targeted Paris Crescent, and when RCMP officers searched the premises they seized a large amount of steroid products in various forms. Approximately 4,500 pills were discovered, as well as more than one and a half liters of liquid steroid products and more than a kilogram of steroids in the raw powdered form. The RCMP also found a pill press and other laboratory equipment in the residence which was also seized.

According to the Wood Buffalo RCMP the steroid production lab in Timberlea was producing anabolic steroids with a label stating Phoeniz Laboratories. Anabolic steroids were not the only drugs located during the raid, law enforcement also found cocaine, marijuana, and hallucinogenic mushrooms. $2,700 in cash was also seized by the RCMP, along with a rifle that was not safely stored or secured. According to the RCMP Daniel Dube is not authorized to possess the firearm. The charges against Dube as a result of the raid include unauthorized possession of a firearm, production of anabolic steroids, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession for the purpose of trafficking steroids, possession of cannabis marihuana, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of cocaine, and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Street Fight in Timberlea Leads to Two Arrests

Wood Buffalo RCMP needs the public’s help in order to locate persons of interest concerning a street fight in Timberlea. The fight caused two individuals to be arrested, both juveniles, but the Wood Buffalo RCMP are still looking for the other people who were involved in the brawl. The street fight occurred on August 30th, at around 4:30 am. When police responded at 4:40 am the report stated a fight involving numerous people on Ball Place. Numerous vehicles were damaged in the area, and some vehicles had items that were taken. Some of these items included golf clubs which police believe were used to damage the 5 vehicles as well as commit assaults against others in the fight. Two people were injured but they had non life threatening injuries as a result of the brawl.

According to the Wood Buffalo RCMP two juveniles were arrested on numerous charges, but there were other individuals involved in the Timberlea street brawl as well. A male juvenile from Fort MacMurray was charged with 5 separate counts of mischief over $5,000, a charge of assault with a weapon, and a count of theft in an amount under $5,000. The second male juvenile charged is also from Fort MacMurray, and he is charged with a single count of mischief over $5,000, a charge of aggravated assault, and a count of theft in an amount under $5,000. The Wood Buffalo RCMP are asking the public to come forward and identify the other individuals who took part in the Timberlea street fight.
