OK, let’s move on: Fan favorite Demi Burnett is about to make Bachelor history for being in the franchise’s first-ever same-sex relationship.
“I have kind of been seeing someone,” Demi tells former Bachelorette Hannah Brown during the premiere episode of season six. “Of course, plot twist, it happens to be a woman. It’s not something I need to label, so I feel like I don’t have to proclaim that I’m gay, I’m straight, I’m bisexual, I’m this. I just like who I like. It doesn’t matter who or what you are, it’s the person.”
Fans first learned of the 24-year-old’s relationship with a woman after ABC released this season’s trailer, which showed Demi kissing another woman. “I know that I love this girl. I’m just so happy that I found her,” she said in the clip. “I can definitely picture being with her for the rest of my life.”
But it’s been unclear who she’s referring to. So, we did a bit of digging to find out: The mystery woman that Demi was dating before Paradise is named Kristian Haggerty.
If you don’t recognize her, it’s probably because she’s never been on a Bachelor show before. That’s yet another first for Bachelor Nation: Instead of leaving the show to pursue her relationship with Kristian, Demi brings Kristian to Paradise.
