Jenny Slate Spent Christmas with On-Again Boyfriend Chris Evans' Family

Comedian and actress Jenny Slate has had an up-and-down year with her sometimes-boyfriend Chris Evans (a.k.a. Captain America). Buckle up, because here is 2017 in review: They headed into this year dating, after getting together the previous summer, then had a pretty rough breakup in February; Jenny went to the movies with Jon Hamm, (which, side note, sounds like a very good way to rebound after a traumatic breakup); Jenny became friends with Chris again; and after a few dinner dates and Twitter flirtations toward the end of October (those kids!), they officially got back together again at the end of November. A true saga that has come full circle! All the back-and-forth seems to have been worth it, though, because these two are wonderful and wonderful together. And their reconciliation seems to be going really well—Jenny crossed off a big relationship milestone by spending Christmas at Chris Evans’ house with his family.

Jenny is Jewish (and so isn’t likely to be celebrating Christmas herself), but hanging out with significant other’s family on Christmas is a pretty big deal for most people, and it looks like the Evans clan was thrilled to have Jenny amongst their ranks this year. Chris’ younger brother, Scott, who is also an actor (the gene pool runs strong in this family!), shared a photo of himself hanging out with Jenny and looking pretty happy abut it.

Neither Chris or Jenny’s have posted about their joint holiday, however, Jenny is offline for a social-media detox right now, so this might be the best glimpse we get into what Christmas with the Evans fam looks like.

Still, this is all very exciting, and we would like more of these adorable humans in the new year, please.

Gwyneth Paltrow Had Brunch With Her Ex-Husband and Her New Boyfriend

Usually when I see that Gwyneth Paltrow is trending, I—as an OG Gwynnie stan—brace myself for a barrage of GP Internet hate. To say the actress turned lifestyle entrepreneur is polarizing would be a ridiculous understatement. It seems like every month or so, GOOP will publish a story that lights up the online world. Remember the great jade egg controversy of 2017?

More recently the press has been kinder. Paltrow was one of the women who came forward early in the Harvey Weinstein scandal to detail her own harassment by the movie mogul at the beginning of her career. And now people are obsessing over her latest Instagram post in a super-positive way.

As we all know, Paltrow “consciously uncoupled” from her husband and father of her two children, Chris Martin, back in 2014. But by all accounts, they’ve stayed super close and are spotted together often. Just last week it was rumored that Paltrow is engaged to her boyfriend Brad Falchuk. So her latest Instagram post of the two men in her life is probably going to add fuel to that fire.

Yesterday Paltrow posted a photo of Martin and Falchuk with the caption, “Sunday brunch #modernfamily”.

And people are loving it. Including celebrity friends like Chrissy Teigen and Reese Witherspoon. True to form, Teigen cracked wise with, “I hope this is me @johnlegend and my husband one day” following it up with “Jk love you @johnlegend for now.” Reese, ever the Southern girl, wrote, “? ❤️ “.

Followers and fans shared stories of their own modern families in the comments and expressed gratitude for Paltrow setting such a great example, one saying “Yes. That’s how grown-ups roll. You share your kids and get along!” We wholeheartedly agree.

Who knew that all it took was one Instagram photo to finally make Gwyneth Paltrow relatable?

Woman Ghosted By Her Long-Term Boyfriend Is Now His Boss

Ghosting is never a mature thing to do—yes, even if the first date is really, really bad. But you know what’s even worse than ghosting on a relationship that’s just barely getting started? Going radio silent on a person you’ve been dating for over three years.

As discovered by Buzzfeed, such is the conundrum currently facing a user on Ask a Manager, who casually posted the very non-relatable story of how he ghosted his long-term girlfriend in the rudest way possible. (Oh yeah, they lived together, too.) “We clearly had different expectations from the relationship. I did not know what to do and, well, I ghosted her,” he wrote. “Over the Christmas break, while she was visiting her family, I simply moved out and left the country. I took advantage of the fact that I accepted a job in other country and did not tell her about it. I simply wanted to avoid being untangled in a break-up drama.”

This all happened a few years ago, and the guy is now a math teacher at an international school, he wrote, claiming that his ex was “forgotten history” and that he’d happily moved on with his life. That is, until now, because he just discovered that his girlfriend is his boss. Hehehe.

“This week, I learnt that our fantastic school director suddenly resigned due to a serious family situation and had to move back to her home country over the summer. The school had to replace her,” he wrote. “I read the bio of the new boss and googled her and was shocked to discover it is [her]. We have not been in touch and do not have any mutual friends anymore. I am not a big fan of social media and had no idea what she had been up to since the unpleasant situation a long time ago.”

The question he’s begging us all to answer on his behalf: What the hell is he supposed to do? “It is clear this will be not only embarrassing, but I will also be reporting to my ex,” he concluded. “I am not in a position to find another job at present.”

We don’t have the answers for you, buddy.
