A recent Beacon Hill raid has left 3 men facing dozens of criminal charges, and was responsible for taking at least one firearm and drugs out of the local community. 22 year old Yusuf Yusuf, 25 year old Abdirahman Islow, and 27 year old Mohamud Islow were all arrested and have been charged with a total of 55 different criminal offenses as a result of the raid. The criminal charges against one or more of the trio include breaches of court orders, drug trafficking offenses, firearms and weapons offenses, and possession of stolen property to name a few. When ALERT arrived at the residence to perform a police search all three of the suspects were caught trying to flee the home and were arrested.
The Beacon Hill raid occurred at around 4:30 pm, and criminal charges stem from what officers found at the scene. 18 and a half grams of crack cocaine were discovered along with a loaded handgun and around $2,300 in cash. According to police there was also “other evidence consistent with drug trafficking” in the residence. The handgun that was recovered had previously been reported to police as stolen, and it also had a prohibited magazine in the weapon. According to Officer Ashton “At this time, there’s nothing to directly link it to any of those previous shootings. There will be ballistics testing and that sort of thing done on the firearm that was retrieved, but as of right now there’s nothing to directly tie it to any of the outstanding incidents.” Rob McCloy, the head Supt. For the Wood Buffalo RCMP, had nothing but praise for the search and results, saying in a press release that “Getting a handgun like this off the streets is a win for community safety.
