attempted murder, pedestrian hit and run

A Fort McMurray man who was involved in a pedestrian hit and run has been charged with attempted murder after the Saturday morning incident. Drew Scott, a 21 year old from Fort McMurray, was arrested ad placed into police custody once he was identified. The incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday morning and Scott fled the scene. Because of these factors Drew Scott could also be charged with failure to remain at the scene of the accident and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm as well. The vehicle that Scott was driving struck two pedestrians at the Timberlea intersection of Millenium Drive and Confederation Way. One of the two pedestrians only received minor injuries from the accident but the other pedestrian was not so lucky.

According to police the pedestrian hit and run accident left the second pedestrian, a 30 year old man from the local area, with critical injuries. When first responders arrived on the scene the 30 year old man was determined to have life threatening injuries and he was first transported downtown to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre. After being assessed at the local hospital the seriously injured pedestrian was transported by flight to Edmonton where he was taken to the University of Alberta hospital where he was later listed as being in critical but stable condition by the hospital. So far the attempted murder charge has not been clarified. Do you think that this was attempted murder by Drew Scott or just a careless accident? Why?
