90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Had Showers With Dad and a Disapproving Mom

Baby Love Lisa finally made her trek to meet Usman’s mom on 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days…and it didn’t go very well.

Ahead of their visit to Usman’s family, Lisa bought a goat for Usman’s mother, it’s a sign of respect, and naturally Lisa was not keen on being at a goat farm.

Lisa was the first person Usman has brought home to meet his family. And once there, his family was shocked at Lisa’s age. Some things were lost in translation, like the fact that Lisa is a hospice nurse and not a doctor saving lives like Usman told his family. When their conversation finally turned to marriage, Usman’s mother and eldest sister said no to the proposed marriage. In fact, Usman’s mom up and walked away from the conversation. Usman’s mom said the age difference scared her.

“Usman’s mom has said no and at this point we can’t get married. I am very frustrated…At this point our relationship could be over,” Lisa said.

Geoffrey and Varya
While Varya showed Geoffrey around her home town, he finally pulled the trigger and told her about his criminal past. All this went down on the steps of her school. “I went to prison. For a while…For a couple of years, for selling drugs,” he said. Varya was blindsided. She couldn’t comprehend how he could do that. Her cousin died over a drug overdose. Had he been open about this from the start, Varya said she never would’ve spoken to him.

Varya was quick with the questions and asked if he’s thought about the families his actions impacted. Do his kids know? He said yes to both. His kids visited him in prison. “It was a wakeup call for me,” Geoffrey said.

Ed and Rosemarie
Ed did not have a good night. While visiting Rosemarie’s family, Ed had to sleep on a wet mattress pad on the floor—without his high thread count sheets—while Rose’s father stayed in the room next to them.

After seeing how Rose lives, Ed said he couldn’t help but wonder who wouldn’t want to come to America for a better life. Is that what Rose sees in him? Just a ticket out?

Sleeping and showering at Rose’s home left Ed shook. So shook, he said he needed to go on a vacation and take Rose away from her family. But first he would need to get Rose’s father’s permission. They went to the pig farm where Rose’s father lives and Ed slipped around the mud and pig poop before he got permission to whisk Rose away.

Stephanie and Erika
The fight kept on going while these two drove to Erika’s hometown. They sort of tackled the issues in the long car ride, but everything bubbled back up again. After meeting one of Erika’s friends and putting on a happy face, Stephanie and Erika once again go into an argument and Erika left.

David and Lana
After experiencing a flat tire on his way to Lana’s town, David made his way there and started his search. Since he has mailed her stuff before, he said he had her address, but just showing up there would probably scare her. So, he walked around the town hoping to run into her. He even went into a candy store she had mentioned and asked about her whereabouts. However, he couldn’t find Lana. After returning to his hotel, David had a message online waiting for him. It was from Lana and she wanted to know if he still wanted to meet her, take photos together and begin the visa process. Of course he said he wants that, but he decided not to mention the fact that she stood him up.

Avery and Ash
Ash took Avery on a crocodile cruise in an effort to reignite their spark. He said he wants her to feel safer and secure in the relationship, but Avery said she doesn’t feel like she’s getting the real him. Avery is still gun-ho about meeting Ash’s son and ex-wife and really begin the steps to take their relationship to the next level.

Darcey and Tom
After Darcey walked out of the meeting—this was after Tom asked if she put on weight while revealing he met someone else—Tom called his sister Emma and recounted the conversation…leaving out the whole insult thing. Meanwhile, Darcey was back at her hotel and upset. “I truly loved him, and I gave him my heart. All I ever wanted was to be loved,” Darcey said. She thought he was the one, but it turned out he was just another Jesse in disguise.

“I feel used. He played me for a fool,” Darcey said.

So, she blocked him on WhatsApp.

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days airs Sundays, 8 p.m. on TLC.

Watch John Krasinski Surprise Healthcare Workers With a Major Baseball Moment

John Krasinski gave the healthcare workers of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center an epic surprise.

To honor those on the frontlines at BIDMC of Boston, The Office alum arranged for members of the hospital’s COVID-19 response team to get a special visit from one of their local heroes: David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox. The special moment was captured on his YouTube show Some Good News as John reflected on the nation’s shared longing for baseball season to begin.

“Baseball is America’s sport for a reason: It brings us all together,” he said. “And for me, and I’m sure a lot of you, the calendar just doesn’t really feel the same until that opening day pitch is thrown out. Well, last week was supposed to be opening day for almost every major league team and that loss was felt by everyone. And even in the midst of 24-hour shifts and sleepless nights, our healthcare heroes were missing baseball too.”

After virtually connecting with the medical workers, John took a moment to thank them for their hard work during the coronavirus pandemic and brought baseball to BIDMC with a surprise appearance from David. While on the chat, David also thanked the die-hard Red Sox fans, saying, “I gotta tell you guys from the very bottom of my heart how much I love you and respect you for what you guys are doing. Taking your lives, taking your time, that’s something…it goes beyond everything.”

To commemorate their hard work, David and the Boston Red Sox gifted the staff lifetime tickets. “We are the city of champions,” he said as the medical workers cheered. That wasn’t the only surprise waiting for the staffers. John then had the group escorted to Fenway Park, where they were able to run on the iconic field and receive a special shout-out from the city of Boston with a heartwarming video projected on the jumbotron. And, they each got to throw out the first pitch of the 2020 MLB season.

Since launching Some Good News in March, John has been using his platform to brighten up the days of viewers across the country. Just last week, he helped one lucky Hamilton fan’s birthday wish come true by gifting her and her mom tickets to the hit Broadway show after learning that their plans were canceled due to coronavirus concerns.

The 9-year-old superfan was also treated to a performance by the original Hamilton cast. Led by Lin-Manuel Miranda, they sang “Alexander Hamilton” from their respective homes and left the little girl speechless.

Can't Sleep? Try These Doctor Recommend Tips & Tools

We love these products, and we hope you do too. E! has affiliate relationships, so we may get a small share of the revenue from your purchases. Items are sold by the retailer, not E!.

No question: we’re going through a challenging time right now. And as we all process through everything we’re dealing with, that can wreak havoc on our sleep patterns. Are you feeling it too? Fret not, ’cause we talked with two experts that can help us make the most of nap time and bed time.

“Ideally, the American Academy of Sleep recommends seven to nine hours of sleep with some people needing just six and other needing ten,” says sleep psychologist Dr. Joshua Tal. “But we’re moving away from the quantity of sleep and instead looking at the quality of sleep. If you’re getting six to seven hours of quality sleep that’s better than ten hours of interrupted sleep. So I would say don’t stress out over the number of hours, focus on the quality.”

But what if you’re struggling to get that quality sleep? Dr. Tal has some suggestions. “In terms of what you can control, you can set up bedtime routines which include turning off your phone and doing something relaxing like stretching, yoga, a bath or listening to music,” he says. “You can get aromatherapy going. When you do it enough times, it conditions your body to get ready to sleep. That’s what we want: we want a signal for your body to say it’s time to sleep.”

And there are definitely some things you want to avoid if your goal is to improve your sleep. For example? “Caffeine can take as long as 12 hours to leave your body,” says clinical psychologist Dr. Shelby Harris. “While most people think that coffee is the sole source of caffeine, it is also commonly found in soda, tea, chocolate and many over-the-counter medications as well. Even beyond caffeine, liquid intake at night often leads to more bathroom trips and sleep disruption, so people who are having trouble sleeping may want to avoid eating or drinking anything within three hours of bedtime. Alcohol in particular can help some fall asleep faster, but the sleep quality ends up being much lighter and broken throughout the night.”

Still, even with all that preparation, some of us might still be struggling with the getting to sleep part. Dr. Harris knows how to deal with that. “Get up and out of the bed after approximately 20 minutes… don’t look at the clock, just guesstimate,” she recommends. “Sit in another room, or a chair near the bed if that is not possible, and do something quiet, calm and relaxing in dim light with no screens, like reading a book, jigsaw puzzles, or listening to a deep relaxation exercise without staring at a tablet. Only return to bed once you’re sleepy again, and if you get in and can’t fall back asleep, get up and do it all over again. The bed is only for sleep and the more you do other things in bed such as worrying, reading, tossing and turning, the more your body learns to do things other than sleep in bed. Sleep is still a non-negotiable, and the better you sleep, the better you are at tackling stress and better enhancing your immunity.”

And if you’re still struggling, Dr. Harris and Dr. Tal have some product recommendations that might help. Shop them below!

Mavogel Cotton Sleep Eye Mask

“This is good if you have light coming in that’s waking you up and you don’t have blackout curtains,” says Dr. Tal. “We want the room to be cool, dark and quiet, so this takes care of the dark part. I specifically like this one because it fully covers the eyes without pressing or putting pressure on them.”

Allied Essentials Serenity Cool Sleep Mattress Pad

“This mattress pad is made with PCM, a material developed by NASA,” Dr. Tal shares. “It’s for people who get too hot or too cold in their sleep. Basically, when you’re hot, it liquifies and traps the heat or releases heat when you’re too cold by turning it cool. It adjusts the temperature so you’re never too cold or too hot.”

On April 8, the singer said on Instagram, “I have acquired and purchased 100,000 FDA certified 3 ply masks (with the help of Orange International Inc who sourced the masks for me from a factory in Guangzhou, China) These masks will be distributed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Providence Saint Joseph, LAC+USC Medical Center, and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital; for the medical professionals and non medical hospital staff who are working to put a stop to this pandemic and help millions of strangers they will never meet.”
