So, You Wanna Play? Check Out the Kick-Ass Cast, Then & Now

“Show’s over, motherf–kers.”

No one expected Kick-Ass to be a major hit when it premiered on April 16, 2010. But the movie, based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar, become one of the year’s most successful movies, grossing almost $100 million, making stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz, who wasn’t even a teenager yet, some of the most in-demand young actors in Hollywood, and causing a whole lot of controversy.

With its stylish and slick take on graphic violence and the potty mouth on Hit-Girl, Moretz’s breakout character, Kick-Ass became the buzziest and most controversial movie of the year, with Brad Pitt actually serving as a producer on the film alongside director Matthew Vaughn. Yes, Brad Pitt produced one of the second most illegally downloaded film of the year. (Avatar was No. 1, in case you were wondering.)

Aside from Johnson and Moretz, several other up-and-coming actors starred in Kick-Ass, along with Nicolas Cage making his long-awaited foray into the world of comic book adaptations.

So what have the stars of Kick-Ass been up to since hanging up their homemade capes after the 2013 sequel? Find out…

Chris Cuomo's Wife Cristina Speaks Out After Coronavirus Diagnosis

Cristina Cuomo is ready to face her fight against COVID-19.

In her first public statement since husband Chris Cuomo revealed that she too tested positive for coronavirus, Cristina said she is most worried about the wellbeing of the couple’s three children, Bella, Mario and Carolina.

“You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice. Covid-19 got me,” she wrote on Instagram, explaining that her “first symptom” was a sinus-related infection.

“The only frustrating part is I can’t be there for my kids right now in the way they need me as Chris is in isolation too still, no fever and feeling better,” she shared. “Bella, Mario and Carolina have grown up overnight—Bella, our 17-year-old daughter, stepped up cleaning, doing laundry, cooking for her siblings and getting them situated with google classroom, and caregiving her mother and father. Mario, her assistant.”

Cristina, 50, said she’s feeling “so much gratitude” for her family and “can’t wait to wrap my arms around them again.”

And as the found of health and wellness site The Purist, Cristina said she’s “committed to this naturopathic route more than ever.”

Cuomo requested her followers send “anecdotal evidence” about their own recoveries from COVID-19 because as she described, “Communication is all we’ve got right now. Please keep sharing your stories. It’s the only way we achieve freedom from fear. Staying strong is the battle.”

On last night’s Cuomo Prime Time, the journalist expressed his sorrow for most likely spreading the virus to his wife.

“…it just breaks my heart. It is the one thing I was hoping wouldn’t happen and now it has,” Cuomo shared, adding, “Mom is the core. When mom goes down, you feel it. [The kids] have stepped up. They’re helping each other. They’re more quiet. They’re focused on her and hopefully it makes the family stronger.”

Your Binge Watch, Solved: 54 Stars and Showrunners Reveal Their Favorite Episodes of Their Own Shows

“Ok so first and foremost I’d have new viewers (and veteran viewers for that matter) go watch S1, E1. You gotta see where it all started! And for the veteran viewers 101 would be fun to go rewatch to see how far the show has come and to see how much the characters have changed.

S1, E15 is a fun watch, you get to see the end of the first season and the first cliffhanger.

Next I’d jump ahead to S5,  E1.  Directed by one of our executive producers, Eriq La Salle. Really strong episode that deals with tough subject matter of an accidental shooting.

Then I’d say go watch S5, E18, “Ghosts,” really strong Upton episode where we get to know her character more.

Next let’s jump ahead to season 6! Start with S6, E2, “Endings.” It wraps up an emotional crossover involving Halstead’s dad. Then go to S6, E13, “Night In Chicago.” I love this episode where Atwater has to confront some of the darkest issues surrounding police work.

Next I’d say go watch the entire Infection crossover that starts with Fire and Med and culminates with episode S7, E4 of PD. Only OneChicago can do a crossover like this 😉

Next on my list is S7, E6 where Halstead has to live with some heavy choices he made. Then S7, E13, “I Was Here,” is a gut wrenching episode for Burgess. Love the episodes that carry over into the characters personal lives.

Then finally I’d say watch “Silence of the Night” which is the follow up to Atwater’s Night in Chicago episode. (Editor’s note: This episode aired Wednesday, 4/15.)

Defending Jacob First Look: Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery Take You Inside Every Parent's Nightmare

Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery are living every parent’s nightmare in Defending Jacob, a new Apple TV+ miniseries based on the 2012 best-selling novel of the same name.

“Seeing your son in such a dangerous position, obviously any parent would fight to protect their kid at all costs,” Evans says in the exclusive first look below.

In the miniseries, Evans plays Andy Barber, an assistant district attorney in a small Massachusetts town whose world is rocked when his 14-year-old son, Jacob (Jaeden Martell), is accused of murdering a classmate. Dockery is his wife, Laurie, a teacher.

“We begin to see this family tested and she begins to question everything,” Dockery says in the exclusive first look preview. Could Jacob be responsible for the murder? What happens to the parents who are put into an impossible position? Can Andy put aside the unconditional love for his son to uphold his duty to justice?

“The foundation’s rocked. There’s a lot of trust issues, a lot of guilt. It kind of opens all those doors,” Evans, who is also an executive producer on the series, says.

Mark Bomback created the series for television and serves as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Morten Tyldum directed every episode and also serves as executive producer.

“How well can you ever know anyone? I think this show forces us to think about those boundaries that you exist with the people you love,” Bomback says.

Cherry Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Betty Gabriel and Sakina Jaffrey also star.

“Once you open Pandora’s box, it’s those scary corners you don’t want to explore,” Evans teases.

Defending Jacob premieres with three of its eight episodes on Friday, April 24 on Apple TV+.

Plus, he had the healthcare team escorted to Fenway park, where they ran the bases and received a touching video on the Jumbotron from the city of Boston.
