Best TV Shows Fall 2019
Fall television isn’t just entertainment now: It’s an event. Much like summer is prime time for action blockbusters and winter is when the Oscar bait comes, fall is all about TV. This is when new series premiere that can potentially become classics—like This Is Us did in 2016 or How to Get Away With Murder just two years before that. It’s when long-running favorites, think Grey’s Anatomy, return to warm up your chilly nights. And it’s when the Emmys happen, honoring the best and buzziest on the small screen.
In fact, half the fun of fall TV is speculating which shows will sweep the next Emmys—and this year’s slate is stacked with big contenders. From Ryan Murphy’s Netflix debut, The Politician to YouTube star Lilly Singh’s late-night show on NBC, so many big things are happening. They don’t call it the golden age of television for nothing.
“Fall is time for re-setting—it’s almost the second New Year. Post-summer, everyone’s getting back into a routine. I think that fall TV can provide a really exciting outlet for that,” Kennedy McMann, who stars in The CW’s Nancy Drew, tells Glamour. She’s right: There’s something satisfying about establishing a routine of new and existing shows you like. But if you’re overwhelmed with what to watch, look no further than the TV shows below. Your queue’s never looked better.
