Kate Middleton and Prince William Just Met Baby Archie for the First Time
Kate Middleton and Prince William met Baby Archie for the first time today, May 14, a palace rep confirmed to People magazine.
According to the publication, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s visit with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s newborn son took place at the latter couple’s Frogmore Cottage home. Not much else is known about the meet-up at this time—just that it happened.
Will and Kate’s reasoning for waiting a week to see Archie wasn’t shady. Rather, royals expert Omid Scobie explained on Good Morning America yesterday that Markle and Prince Harry wanted week one with their baby to be relatively quiet. This week, though, is all about the visitors, with Prince Charles expecting to stop by Frogmore Cottage on Thursday.
“We’re absolutely thrilled,” the Duke of Cambridge told reporters last week about Baby Sussex’s arrival. “We’re looking forward to seeing them in the next few days. I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my brother to the sleep-deprivation society that is parenting.”
Middleton also talked to journalists with Prince William, adding, “It’s such a special time, and with Louis and Charlotte just having had their birthdays, it’s such a great time of the year to have a baby. Spring’s in the air and everything, so it’s pretty great.” (Prince Louis’ birthday is on April 23, while Princess Charlotte’s is on May 2.)
Markle and Prince Harry officially welcomed Archie early Monday morning, May 6. “It’s been great. Parenting is amazing,” the Duke of Sussex said at a photo call on May 8. “We are just so thrilled to have our own bundle of joy and to be able to spend some precious time as he slowly starts to grow up.” Markle echoed his sentiment, saying, “It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I’m really happy.”
