Kaley Cuoco Has a Message for Body Shamers Who Say She Looks Pregnant
For all those wondering whether or not Kaley Cuoco might be pregnant, the actress has an answer for you: “Shut up.”
On Tuesday, October 23, Cuoco posted a photo to Instagram of herself walking the InStyle awards red carpet with her sister. Seems innocent enough, right? Well, according to People, Cuoco was met with a significant amount of flak from people who stated it looked as though the actress was expecting.
But as quickly as the social media trolling started, Cuoco was even faster to shut it down. Posting a special message for the pregnancy police on her Instagram story, the actress addressed them once and for all. “So, because I’m in traffic I thought I’d take this time to comment on some Instagram trolls,” the Big Bang Theory star shared in her story. “I posted a picture this morning of my sister and I from an event last night and people said I looked pregnant.”
Cuoco went on to point out that no one would ever dare approach her with that line of questioning in person—so why the bravado online? “Would you ever walk up to someone on the street or at an event where they’re obviously dressed up and say, ‘Are you pregnant?’” the star asked in the post.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen social media users tear down a woman’s body via the comments section, nor is it the first time we’ve witnessed pregnancy trolling like this take shape. Just this past summer, Ashley Graham was met with a flood of Instagram comments questioning whether or not she was expecting when the model posted a video of herself dancing by her pool.
It’s a damaging habit that’s taken form in the digital age, and Cuoco isn’t here for it. “It’s just so comedic and shocking that people would ask that,” the actress continued in her story on Tuesday. And while Cuoco’s decision to have children is certainly no one’s business but the star’s own, she wrapped up her Instagram story by answering the burning question that so many of her followers apparently wanted to know.
“I’m not pregnant,” she clarified. “I guess it was a pregnant angle. Seriously, shut up.”
We can thank LA traffic for that epic rebuttal from the star—and to the social media users who think it’s OK to comment on a woman’s body: Let’s curb that behavior, shall we?
