The Unlikely Connection Between Meghan Markle and Becca Kufrin

If you’re still burning with confusion over Monday night’s Bachelorette finale, here’s something to make you feel at least slightly better. Turns out, this season’s lovable, too-good-for-someone-cough-Garrett contestant, Becca Kufrin, has a big thing in common with Meghan Markle, and it’s not their ability to rake in the viewers (although there is that).

One is real royalty, the other is reality TV royalty, but their surprising connector? They share a beauty pro. Hairstylist and makeup artist Lydia Sellers used to work with Meghan on the regular back before she was a Duchess, and lately, she’s been teaming up with the Bachelorette star for all her recent appearances. While it might be a stretch to say that Becca’s hair is now endorsed by Meghan, that’s also how the transitive property works, and who are we to argue with math?

When you look at the vibe that Becca went for all season, it makes sense that she’d go with Sellers in her life post-Bach. She opts for waves that are easy, wearable, and sleek but with some touchable life to them, which are all adjectives that applied to Meghan’s pre-royalty hair (and still do, in between her schedule of buns and hats).

To get the loose, effortless waves that Becca likes, Sellers says that she focuses on maintaining the volume and separation in Becca’s hair. Her go-to product cocktail starts with Kevin Murphy’s Powder.Puff volumizing powder, and according to Sellers, it was also crucial to Meghan’s routine for big, gorgeous waves. On Becca, she follows it with the brand’s Doo.Over dry finishing hairspray. The former is a volumizing powder that you sprinkle on your roots for the lift that makes on-screen waves look professional, while the hairspray amps up your texture and gives it the hold to last.

But because Becca contains multitudes and likes options in men and hair, wearing her hair sleek is never off the table. In those cases, Sellers runs Kevin Murphy’s Smooth.Again through Becca’s damp hair before blow drying it smooth with the Hai Stylset blowdryer, which she says leaves Becca’s hair silky and shiny.

Both of those were constants in Meghan’s routine as well, although brand reps say that Sellers would rough-dry Meghan’s hair with her hands, instead of a round brush, to keep her tousled texture.

So there you have it: Two queens, one hairstylist.
