Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Will Reportedly Spend Summer With The Queen

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have retired from their duties as working senior royals, but that doesn’t mean they no longer members of the royal family.

According to a new report in The Sunday Times, the couple hopes to return to the United Kingdom in June to take part in the Trooping the Colour, an annual event where the British Army takes over the streets to honor the Queen’s official birthday. But, that’s not all. As the report noted, Harry and Meghan have also accepted an invitation from the Queen to spend part of their summer with her at her beloved Balmoral estate.

As The Times further noted, baby Archie may get in plenty of time with his paternal grandparents, Prince Charles and Camilla, as Prince Harry and Meghan have also reportedly accepted an invitation to spend time at Charles’s own Balmoral retreat. This will be a welcome visit as it is likely that Archie has not seen or spent time with the royal family since his parent’s official move to Canada some months ago.

It will also be extremely important for the Queen who The Sunday Times reported in January was “very sad” about Harry’s absence from both the country and the family. The couple’s move marks a stark change from their days living at Frogmore when the Queen could reportedly walk over to say hello to her great-grandchild.

“When the Queen is there on a Sunday afternoon, it is a five-minute walk up the hill for tea with Granny. It is gorgeous,” a former palace staffer told People.

There’s no news yet on if Harry and Meghan have plans to spend time with Prince William and Kate Middleton. Earlier this March, people thought the couples’ first public reunion for Commonwealth Day services…didn’t go well.

It looked to some like William and Kate ignored attempts from Harry and Meghan to say hello as they waited for the Queen to enter Westminster Abbey.

Hopefully, this summer will give everyone another chance to come together!
