Blake Lively is back on the red carpet—and that’s a very good thing for fashion fans. After taking some time out of the spotlight after giving birth to her third daughter with husband Ryan Reynolds, the actor is back on the promotional circuit for her new movie, The Rhythm Section.
Lively has been famous for her fashion choices since her time playing Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, and she’s definitely not letting us down this time around, either. It appears she’s picked a new vibe for the Rhythm Section press tour: vintage. And that includes some very chic, long gloves.
For the film’s premiere on January 27, she chose an Old Hollywood gown, elbow-length black gloves, and a serious statement necklace:
Earlier that day, she wore a patterned dress with a different pair of black gloves and button-up boots.
But our favorite look so far might be this dusty pink trench dress (has Lively been perusing photos of Meghan Markle?), paired with cognac gloves, and yet another pair of boots. Her hair and makeup have a vintage 1940s feel, as well, with the pinned-up sides and a dark red lip.
So why the gloves? And why vintage? It seems Lively is drawing inspiration from one of the looks her character, Stephanie Patrick, wears in The Rhythm Section. In the movie, Stephanie tries to track down the people behind the tragic deaths of her family, and she wears a lot of different wigs and disguises to do so. One of those disguises, which Lively shared on Instagram, is vintage femme fatale. So this explains why she’s channeling a similar energy on her press tour.
This isn’t the first time Lively has brought a piece of her onscreen personas to the red carpet. On the press tour for 2018’s A Simple Favor, Lively wore a series of incredible suits that mimicked the ones her character wore in the movie.
We can’t wait to see how many more pairs of gloves Blake Lively busts out over the next couple days.
