Netflix's The Knight Before Christmas Could Get a Sequel
The Knight Before Christmas is probably the most anticipated film in Netflix‘s holiday movie arsenal, and it finally dropped today. If you already watched the Vanessa Hudgens-led rom-com, then you probably saw the end-credits scene in which Sir Cole’s brother, Geoffrey (played by Harry Jarvis), is approached by the same witch who transported Cole from 1334 to the present day. So does this mean we’re getting a
sequel? Well, the film’s director, Monika Mitchell, isn’t ruling it out.
If you haven’t seen the movie, though, here’s a quick recap: A science teacher, Brooke (Hudgens), meets a medieval knight named Sir Cole (Josh Whitehouse), who a witch has magically transported from medieval times to 2019. Flirty banter and baking ensue, and eventually they fall in love. During the credits, we see one last scene of the witch talking to Geoffrey while holding a shining medallion. This clearly means The Second Knight Before Christmas is coming, right?
Well, maybe. “Of course I can see a sequel,” Mitchell tells Glamour. “I think Harry Jarvis is definitely involved because the [witch] is there to present him with yet another medallion. We don’t know who’s coming back through time. We don’t know if he’s gonna go visit his brother. We don’t know if Josh and Vanessa would come back and help him out. Maybe some other young lady comes back through time. We’ll have to see what the audience responds to.”
Audience, this is your cue: Start responding and get this sequel started. From Mitchell’s quote, a second movie probably wouldn’t focus on Brooke and Sir Cole again, but it could offer an update on where they are. For now, Hudgens is busy making a sequel to The Princess Switch, but fingers crossed both she and these knights in shining armor are down for some more time-traveling magic.
The Knight Before Christmas is now streaming on Netflix.
