Selena Gomez Will ‘Do So Many Things Differently’ in Her Next Relationship
Selena Gomez is ready to put herself out there nearly two years after splitting with on-again-off-again ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. In fact, she said she knows exactly what she wants and all the things she’ll do differently in her next relationship.
After releasing two back-to-back breakup songs called “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now”, the singer sat down for an interview on The Zach Sang Show where she opened up about love after heartbreak and why she’s excited for what’s next.
“I want to know what that love will look like next for me,” she explained. “I want it to be real and I don’t want it to be co-dependent or messy or lack of communication.”
She continued, “When you get older, you find people who are actually right for you, that are actually on the same wavelength as you.”
However, that doesn’t mean she’s in any rush to find love with someone new.
“I’ve been having way too much fun being on my own,” she admitted. “It sucked for the first year, I was like, ‘I just want to cuddle. I just want to watch something and be adored.’ But now it feels good, it feels awesome.”
All she knows for sure is that she’ll “do so many things differently” next time around.
“I would be very transparent,” Gomez shared. “I don’t have room to buffer things that I need or that I want. I think girls can sometimes be scared of that because we’re viewed as crazy or needy or overthinking things or dramatic.”
She went on to say that she loves being a girl and having emotions, as well as “falling super deep and being passionate,” but she understands that it’s all about not letting it consume her and “channeling it in the right areas.”
The pop star continued, “But I never want to lose the sense of love that I imagine it to be. I don’t want to be jaded or bitter from anything. I believe that it exists. I’m happy waiting for that for however long it takes because we’re going to be doing this forever.”

Over the past week, Gomez—who’s notoriously private about her personal life— has been surprisingly open about the pain that inspired her to write new music. Though she hasn’t directly discussed her relationship with Bieber, which ended for good in March 2018 after a brief reconciliation, it’s wonderful to know she hasn’t given up on love.
