How Prince William and Kate Middleton Are Dealing With the Rumors He Had an Affair

Prince William and Kate Middleton have had all sorts of rumors published about them, but there’s one currently floating around the Internet that’s particularly sinister: that William had an affair with their family friend Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. This story first started brewing months ago, with several outlets publishing shaky-at-best reports. British journalists were reportedly tweeting things like, “Everyone knows about the affair, darling.” It was messy.

But completely unsubstantiated. There is absolutely no weight to these rumors or evidence that Prince William had an affair. This is just our celebrity news cycle at work—and because the royals rarely address stories written about them, tabloids can get away with printing pretty much anything (within reason).

All seems to be well with Prince William, Middleton, and Hanbury, though: They were all at the dinner party hosted last week during Donald Trump’s visit to the U.K. No, the three didn’t sit together, but it seems unlikely they all would attend this event if there was bad blood. Don’t even take these affair rumors with a grain of salt. Just toss them over your shoulder.

That’s reportedly exactly what Middleton and Prince William are doing. “They’re still going strong,” a royal insider tells Us Weekly. “Regardless of their ups and downs, they love each other dearly and their kids are the most important thing in their lives…It’s not unusual to have a few hiccups in a marriage, especially after eight years, and Kate and William are no different.”

Of course, Middleton didn’t take these reports well at first. (Who would?) “Kate finds the rumors hurtful, obviously, and hates the thought that one day her children will be able to read about them online,” an additional source tells Us Weekly.
