The Romantic Story Behind That Photo Prince Harry Took of Meghan Markle
Kensington Palace posted a photo of Meghan Markle to its Instagram page yesterday, November 1, that Prince Harry took. It’s a stunning shot: The Duchess of Sussex is standing in the middle of a forest in Rotorua and cradling her baby bump. A giant Redwood tree is right next to her, as well, so people can really see the magnitude of their surroundings. The photo was taken on the tail-end of the couple’s royal tour across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga—a trip that Markle said left her and Prince Harry “inspired and reminded of how every single one of us can make a difference.”
And now, we know the story behind that beautiful photo. Omid Scobie, a royals reporter, was accompanying Markle and Prince Harry the day they took the pic and spilled the tea on Twitter. “At the end of our last tour engagement, Harry and Meghan walked ahead of their team, security and myself (who was the pool reporter). We were in the beautiful Whakarewarewa Forest and they wanted a moment to themselves. This photo, taken by Harry, was the result of that moment,” Scobie tweeted.
As for how Prince Harry snapped the pic, Scobie says both he and Markle are iPhone users.
This royal tour has been a bit of a whirlwind for Markle and Prince Harry. Right before they started it, Kensington Palace confirmed the couple is expecting their first child together. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the palace posted on Twitter and Instagram October 15. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
