Voter Registration Day Is Today—And These Celebs Want You Registered!
Today is National Voter Registration Day, and celebrities across the country—from Michelle Obama to Katy Perry— want to make sure you know exactly what to do in order to exercise your vote in the midterm elections on November 6.
Obama, who urged Americans to show up at the polls during a registration rally in Las Vegas over the weekend, took to Twitter on Tuesday and made another plea to voters: “There’s a lot at stake this November. If we stay home, critical issues that affect our families and communities get ignored. Today on #NationalVoterRegistrationDay, register to vote and then get to the polls on Nov. 6,” the former First Lady wrote.

Other celebrities, such as Katy Perry, posted reminders for how to register and how to cast absentee ballots. “Need to register to vote? Check your voter status? Find local volunteer opportunities or sign up to get reminders for voting/absentee ballot…” Perry posted on her Instagram and Twitter. Chelsea Handler encouraged Americans to start by checking their registration status: “States are aggressively purging voters from the rolls — and and often, people only find out they can’t vote when they show up to the polls. SO BE PROACTIVE!,” she explained on Twitter, giving fans the website to verify their registration status.
