Taylor Swift Is Being Accused of Copying Kanye West on 'Ready for It'


Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be totally over their feud with Taylor Swift, but the Internet clearly isn’t ready to let it go just yet. Fans pounced on the thinly-veiled Kimye references littered through the lyrics and video of Taylor’s “Look What You Made Me Do” when those dropped. (Some even claimed Taylor made fun of Kim’s Paris robbery in the video.) And now, they’ve pushed this feud story even further: accusing Taylor of drawing a little too much inspiration from Kanye—specifically his 2013 album, Yeezus—on “Ready for It,” her second single off of her upcoming album, Reputation.

As Andrew Gruttadaro at The Ringer points out, “Many compared ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ to Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak, but ‘…Ready for It?’ draws clear inspiration from Yeezus, with an intro that sounds like a softened version of ‘On Sight’ and the kind of brutal, manufactured percussion that defined that album.” He continues, “Taylor Swift is also rapping on this song,” Hmm….
