A self-driving car is about to make the longest automated drive in North America.

The Delphi Drive, made by U.K.-based Delphi Automotive PLC, will start its engine near Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco on March 22 and drive 5,600 kilometres to New York, the company announced Saturday.

But what’s it like to be behind the wheel of a self-driving car? Ryan Middleton, software developer at Delphi Labs @ Silicon Valley gave CBC a simulated demo at the C3 Connected Car pavilion in Austin, Texas this weekend.
