It’s been a whopping seven-and-a-half years since the last Harry Potter book dropped, but darned if fans still didn’t have dozens of pressing questions about the books.
While the novels wrapped up pretty fully thanks to an epilogue, discerning readers have been pointing out random details that were left hanging for years now. Most of those mysteries will never be solved, but this morning J.K. Rowling herself emerged to set the record straight—on Twitter, of course. The author is constantly barraged with burning questions from fans, so she decided to answer a select few.
NEWS: Hagrid hospitalized! All the deets on the actor’s condition
She started off with a query she must get a lot: How come, when Harry gets bitten by the basilisk in Chamber of Secrets, the horcrux inside of him wasn’t destroyed?
.@llamaofthelab The Horcrux-receptacle has to be destroyed BEYOND REPAIR, so Harry would need to have DIED. #pleaseneveraskmethatoneagain

She also took on topics like the much-beloved three-headed dog, Fluffy:
.@EmyBemy2 He was repatriated to Greece. Dumbledore liked to put Hagrid’s more foolish acquisitions back where they belong – not the forest.

And the curious placement of the Black family home:
.@CharlsEC A Black ancestor coveted the beautiful house, so ‘persuaded’ the Muggle occupant to leave & put the appropriate spells on it.

Then, Rowling signed off, with the rest of our questions hanging in the balance.
Sorry, haven’t got time for more than three HP answers this morning. Robert needs me, but take those as a thank you for yr lovely messages x

But wait, just kidding, she actually couldn’t resist answering one more follow-up.
.@hanzandz The crack in the stone was irreparable. Only Dumbledore cd have extracted the soul fragment but left the original charm intact.

We might never get our dream of a true Harry Potter reunion, but we have to admit that this Q&A session was a pretty good alternative.
