A new bulletproof baseball cap that has been introduced provides additional head protection along with a stylish look. The prototype of the cap has the word bulletproof on it but caps sold to the public will not have this wording and will look like any other baseball cap on the market. The product is ideal for places where a bulletproof helmet would be out of police, or even just for peace of mind when you are out on the town. This is not the first unusual item of apparel that includes ballistic materials, suits have been showcased before that were created from materials which offer bulletproof features. The product is part of a BulletSafe Kickstarter project and the caps are not available commercially yet, but for a $99 pledge you can get the basic black model. The entire baseball cap is not bulletproof, only the front panel for forehead protection, but that has not stopped the pledges from coming in.
The bulletproof baseball cap for better head protection was the result of consumer requests for a bulletproof vest to the BulletSafe company. BulletSafe is best known for the bulletproof vests that the company manufactures, and when Tom Nardone talked about the helmet requests he said “I thought, ‘Yuck! I don’t want to make those.’ They look ridiculous in a civilian environment.” Nardone then came up with a solution, and the bulletproof baseball cap was started. Some plan on wearing their caps to the shooting range, others just want it for added safety when they are out in the community.
