Daniel Stuckless, current CEMA president, will be the new general manager for the Fort McMurray Metis. Stuckless will be replacing Kyle Harrietha in the position and he has years of experience working with members of the Fort McKay First Nation. When asked about the new position Stuckless stated “This was an opportunity that was a good fit for me. A lot of folks in fort McKay have wished me well and were happy for me. Fort McKay has been great to me over the years and I still plan on being involved in the community while I have this new job.” The new GM for the Metis has been a resident of Fort McMurray for more than a decade and he has a long involvement with local communities in the area.
As the general manager for the Fort McMurray Metis Daniel Stuckless will hold a position that is more senior than his previous position with the group, and he will be responsible for a variety of duties and responsibilities. Stuckless explained “I’m very familiar with the region and the companies north of Fort McMurray. The learning curve for me will involve getting to know the number of companies south of Fort McMurray on a formal basis.” The new Metis GM also discussed development in the oilsands and the Metis, commenting that “The members will want to know what is going on while we continue to develop the oilsands. It’s only a matter of time before this government is caught up to speed. I’m hoping, with the new NDP government, that it’s something we see before the next election.”
