Denis Victor Courchesne, child pornography

Denis Victor Courchesne, a Fort MacMurray man who was arrested last year in Puerto Rico for possession and production of child pornography, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. The sentence was handed down in Puerto Ric recently, and that is where 45 year old Denis will serve the sentence as well. It all started when Courchesne arrived at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan late last year, coming from Panama City, Panama. During a routine customs search the officers discovered that the electronic devices Denis Victor Courchesne had with him contained child pornography. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a statement after Denis was arrested stating that he was a paid subscriber to websites and groups where he downloaded hundreds of child pornography images.

After Denis Victor Courchesne was arrested his electronic devices were further examined, and investigators also found numerous advertisements and videos that obtained child pornography. Courchesne admitted in an affidavit that he had a sexual attraction to prepubescent girls. Thanks to the hard efforts of customs officers and immigration officials this is one man who preys on children who will not have access for many years to come. Law enforcement are continuously monitoring the Internet because of the many groups and websites juts like the ones that Denis belonged to. Pedophiles are on the radar, and more countries are taking steps to stop these criminals before more innocent children can be hurt. What do you think a fair sentence for Denis Victor Courchesne would be?

Police have reported that Phil Walding, a 50 year old who works for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo as the Chief Taxi Inspector, has been charged with a single count of accessing child pornography and also a single count of possession of child pornography. As of last Friday Walding was suspended with pay by the municipality “pending the outcome of an investigation.” In a statement released concerning Walding the municipality stated “The RMWB takes this matter very seriously and is cooperating fully with the police,” and then included the fact that Walding’s work area has been secured and placed under lock down during the investigation. Child Pornography and Sexual Exploitation Charges Brought Against Former Commuter to Fort MacMurray

child pornography, Fort MacMurray, William Swanson

A former commuter to the Fort MacMurray area has been charged for possessing child pornography and for sexual exploitation, and there are numerous charges pending against the suspect. In March of 2015 police became aware that 36 year old Edmonton resident and Fort MacMurray commuter William Swanson was alleged to have shared child pornography online using the Internet while he was at a work camp situated close to Fort MacMurray. A spokesperson for the police could not give an exact date for the incident and the investigation is still ongoing. Police are asking that anyone who was victimized by Swanson come forward, and this includes any victims who may be located in or near Fort MacMurray. Swanson s also charged with offenses related to luring a young girl who was underage for sexual exploitation purposes by pretending he was a professional photographer.

In addition to the child pornography offenses while at the Fort MacMurray work camp police say that William Swanson met a 16 year old using an advertisement that the girl posted on a website. Swanson posed as a professional photographer, even having the teen sign fake contracts and then taking nude photos of her over a number of photo shoots and meetings. According to ALERT spokesperson Mike Tucker “He was very sophisticated in drawing up contracts that (the victim) thought were supposed modeling contracts. These types of individuals will prey on any insecurities or ambitions of these victims to try to get what they want.” Anyone who knows anything about William Swanson or his activities should contact law enforcement.

20 Year Old Man Receives No Jail Time in Child Pornography Case With a High Profile

child pornography, lack of jail time
child pornography, lack of jail time

Many are shocked at a criminal sentence which seems incredibly light for charges of child pornography, with no jail time at all given to the 20 year old defendant. The two defendants in the case and the victim are all unnamed in the media due to a publication ban which forbids the media from identifying the individuals. The man sentenced was under 18 years old when the crime occurred, and his case was handled by the juvenile court so his identity is protected. The case centered around the male taking pictures of a friend who was engaged in sex with a minor. In the photo the girl is seen vomiting out of a window, and the friend is engaged in a sex act with the female while giving the camera a thumbs up.

The child pornography case became high profile, especially after the female in the picture committed suicide due to being bullied when the photo was circulated among her friends and peers. The age of the victim when she killed herself was just 18 years old. Defense attorneys requested that the impact statements from family members of the victim be disregarded because the family blamed the defendant for the suicide of the girl, and pointed out that the defendant was not charged with this. The judge responded “Are you seriously trying to say that you don’t want this court to consider what happened to (the victim) after this photo was taken? The defendant received no jail time, just 12 months of probation and a sexual harassment class in order to keep the conviction from staying on his record.
