Don't Worry, These TV Shows Have Already Been Renewed (Or Canceled!)

TV is in a weird state right now. Many TV shows, specifically broadcast series, shut down production as coronavirus spread around the world.

Shows such as The Resident, New Amsterdam, Grey’s Anatomy and Empire are ending their seasons early and not resuming production when deemed safe and the coronavirus curve is flattened. Shows like This Is Us, The Real Housewives of New York City, Schitt’s Creek and many streaming shows have already completed production and have either completed runs, are nearing completion or just premiering.

However, many of your favorite shows have already been renewed for the 2020-2021 TV season. It’s safe to say TV isn’t going anywhere.

Below, get a rundown of the shows that have already been renewed (or canceled) as others await their fate come Upfronts in May.

Robert Downey Jr. Turns 55! Vote for the Actor's Best Role to Celebrate

Iron Man at your service!

Today the superhero, or rather, the actor who plays the iconic Marvel hero turns 55 years old.

In his five and half decades, Robert Downey Jr. has played some of TV and film’s most iconic roles where it’s hard to decide which is his best.

Of course, he has dominated the silver screen for the past decade as Iron Man, the quick-witted playboy who was the heart of his own films as well as the Avengers movies.

That said, we’ve also seen the New York City native define other fictional characters, such as in Sherlock Holmes and the recent Dolittle.

While we also are used to seeing him in movie theaters, true fans remember he also was a huge part of Ally McBeal and even had a short stint on Saturday Night Live.

With all that talent, it’s no surprise the actor has won a BAFTA, People’s Choice Awards and Golden Globes trophy, as well as been nominated for an Academy Award.

And while we can’t wait to see him return to our screens with his next big project, we’re taking the day to celebrate his birthday by looking back at all his best roles.

Katy Perry Reveals the Sex of Her First Child With Orlando Bloom

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are expecting a baby girl.

The 35-year-old singer shared the happy news via Instagram on Friday.

“It’s a girl,” the “Roar” star wrote via the social network.

She also posted a picture of the 43-year-old actor smiling with pink cream on his face. The sweet snapshot appeared to be from a gender reveal celebration.

In addition, the words “Girls Run the World” appeared in the post.

The announcement came about one month after Perry announced her pregnancy. The 13-time Grammy nominee revealed the major milestone in the music video for her song “Never Worn White.” At the end of the short film, fans saw Perry cradling her baby bump.

“I am excited. We’re excited and happy and it’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep,” she said during an Instagram Live video last month. “And I like to tell you guys everything but I knew I would tell you in the best way, which is through a piece of music because that’s… I guess that’s how I speak to you. That’s how we speak together to each other.”

It’s certainly been an exciting time for the couple. The Pirates of the Caribbean star and the “Firework” celeb got engaged last year. Bloom pulled off quite the romantic proposal and popped the question on Valentine’s Day. However, the dynamic duo made it clear they’re not rushing down the aisle.

“[We’re] definitely trying to, like, lay the good emotional foundation for the lifetime of commitment, which is, like, a big deal, you know?” Perry said during a 2019 interview on KISS Breakfast With Tom & Daisy.

This is the couple’s first child together. Bloom also has a son named Flynn, whom he shares with his ex Miranda Kerr.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Selena Gomez Comes Forward With Bipolar Diagnosis: Revisit Her Most Candid Moments

Selena Gomez has opened yet another chapter of her personal life.

On Friday, the pop star spoke to Miley Cyrus via Instagram Live about her years-long struggle with her mental health. Selena, 27, shared for the first time that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder during a recent stay at a Massachusetts psychiatric hospital.

Selena explained that she’s no longer afraid to face the illness, and has even recognized the behaviors associated with bipolar disorder in her loved ones.

“I’ve seen some of it even in my own family, where I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ I’m from Texas, it’s just not known to talk about mental health,” she shared with Miley. “You got to seem cool. And then I see anger built up in children and teenagers or whatever young adults because they are wanting that so badly. I just feel like when I finally said what I was going to say, I wanted to know everything about it. And it took the fear away.”

Over the years, the “Bad Liar” singer has sought professional treatment on several occasions for issues related to anxiety and depression. The experience has undoubtedly shape Selena’s outlook on her past, present and future, and mental health awareness is something she continues to champion on behalf of her fans around the world.

What to Watch This Weekend: Our Top Binge Picks for April 4-5

Hey all you cool cats and kittens…

Oh wait, Tiger King was last week, right? Who are we kidding, everyone is still obsessed with Netflix’s docuseries and the epic feud between Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin and has likely already re-watched the seven-episode series as they continue to social distance at home.

While we want to support you in any viewing decisions you should make, we do want to offer up some fresh meat (pun fully intended) for you to check out this weekend, April 4-5. Don’t worry, Joe Exotic will still be there to provide entertainment.

From a new-ish Bravo reality show we can’t get enough of to our new visual version of chicken noodle soup to a stay at the Rose Motel to adequately prepare for the series finale of one of TV’s most beloved comedies, here’s everything you should be streaming and watching while continuing to make an indent in the shape of your body on your couch…

If You Are Obsessed With All Things Harry and Meghan: She’s ba-aaack! Well, sort of. OK, not really. But the Duchess of Sussex is the new voice of Disney in their new animal documentary Elephant, which debuted on April 3, just days after Harry and Meghan officially signed off from their duties as senior members of the Royal Family.

Elephant tells the story of Shani, an African elephant, and her son Jomo as they migrate across the Kalahari Desert with their herd, led by matriarch Gaia.

If that doesn’t already sound heartwarming enough, in support of the project and its narrator, Disneynature is donating to Elephants Without Borders, a charity organization dedicated to elephants in Botswana that has been a passion project for Meghan for years. (Where to Watch: Disney Plus)

If You Are in Need of a New Bravo Bunch to Obsess Over: Listen, it’s not like we are exactly lacking in the reality shows we watch department, but Bravo’s Family Karma has quickly become one of our most enjoyable viewing experiences this year.

Unlike some of its network siblings, Family Karma, which centers on several wealthy Indian families in Miami, has arrived fully formed in season one, with not a boring character or storyline in the bunch. With hilariously overbearing parental figures, an exciting will-they-or-won’t-they pairing (We are shipping Brian and Monica with more intensity than how we scrub our hands after getting the mail) and a refreshingly modern and multi-generational take on Indian culture, catch up now and thank us later.

Also, the cast is insanely hot. It must me said. (Where to Watch: Right Here)

If You Are Looking For Something Light and Fluffy That Isn’t Your Pillow But Will Soothe You Just as Much: OK, so it was either the third glass of wine or the cute chemistry between Bethany Joy Lenz and Brett Dalton, but Hallmark Channel’s original movie Just My Type was the highlight of our weekend last week, so we are going to test it out again this Saturday with–wait for it–You’re Bacon Me Crazy. We have no choice but to watch with a title like that.

Starring Michael Rady and Natalie Hall, it’s about rival food truck owners who fall in love…and probably bacon. Bonus: Just My Type is re-airing right before it, so grab a bottle of wine and settle in for two back-to-back cheesy romantic movies. (Where to Watch: Hallmark)

If You Need a Break From Your Oven But Still Want to Indulge Your New Obsession With Baking: The new season of Nailed It! and its hilarious host Nicole Byer are here for you. You’re welcome. (Where to Watch: Netflix)

If You Still Need a Cookie Fix After That: Why not enjoy a buddy-comedy starring Empire‘s Taraji P. Henson and The Office‘s Ed Helms, a pairing we never knew we so desperately needed before watching Coffee & Kareem? (Where to Watch: Netflix)

If You Want to Feel Inferior to-Yet-Inspired-By a Child: Drama TV’s newest hero? A nine-year-old budding journalist who self-starts her own newspaper and exposes a murder in her town. If that doesn’t sound compelling enough, how about that the series Home Before Dark is inspired by a true story, with Hilde Lysiak, now 13, serving as the inspo for the show’s young protagonist after she making headlines years ago when she began investigating a murder.

All ten episodes of the first season, which somehow blends feel-good family drama with a thriller rather effortlessly, dropped at once (Praise the binging gods!) and Home Before Dark (sort of an ironic title now, no?) has already been renewed for a second season. (Where to Watch: AppleTV+)

If You Need to Laugh to Keep From Crying: In a true display of you-can’t-make-this-s–t-up timing, Zombieland is available for your viewing pleasure. Maybe take notes, ya know, just in case? (Where to Watch: Hulu)

If You Need to Laugh to Keep From Crying Pt. 2 and You Want to Be Part of Next Week’s Biggest Pop Culture Event: After a truly glorious, heartfelt, hilarious and inspired six-season run, Schitt’s Creek is coming to an end on April 7. While we’ve been in denial, we just have to accept that we are saying goodbye to one of the shows that been there to comfort us through so many hard times. It’s made us laugh. It’s made us cry. It’s made us Annie Murphy stans.

So what better way to say goodbye to the Rose family than by binging the short-but-ridiculously-sweet seasons to fully prepare for the series finale and one last “Ew, David!”? We’re already crying. (Where to Watch: Netflix and on Demand)

(E! is part of the NBCUniversal family)

Kylie Jenner Reveals How She's Keeping Stormi Webster "Entertained" During Social Distancing

With playhouses, a pool and a home theater, Stormi Webster has no reason to ever leave her home.

And now, with the coronavirus forcing people indoors, Kylie Jenner has arranged for even more fun toys and activities for the 2-year-old. During an Instagram Live with best friend Stassie Karanikolaou, the Kylie Cosmetics boss shared that she and her little one have been more occupied than ever as they spend their days in the comfort of their home. “I have bought her every single outdoor Troll you could imagine. She has bouncy houses out there. Water toys. She has been in the pool every day,” the 22-year-old revealed. “I got a slip n slide but its not here yet though. I got everything. She has been outside every day just living her best life.”

It isn’t always like this for Stormi and her mom, though. This is all a part of Kylie’s plan to “keep her entertained” since Storm Storm is used to going on outings with her cousins like True Thompson and Chicago West.

It’s paying off, too. Like most toddlers, Travis Scott‘s daughter is in her own little world. “She has no idea what is going on, it’s amazing,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star said.

Instagram

This was just one of the many conversations Stassie will be having with her friends, including Hailey Bieber and Nikita Dragun, as part of the #DoYourPartChallenge. She partnered with DoorDash, who is matching every view with a meal.

During her chat with Kylie, they managed to garner millions of views, which means the team at DoorDash will be donating 2.3 million meals to families in need.

In addition, DoorDash updated their app to include the #DoYourPartChallenge store on the homepage. There, customers can choose a dollar amount ($1, 5, 10, 25, or 50) to donate to Feeding America.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians returns Thursday, March 26 only on E!
