Claudia Trindade’s family is asking for privacy and seeking help after the mother of two children was seriously injured in a snow plow crash this week.

They sent a statement Friday saying she remains in critical condition and is continually being monitored.

“The outcome of this tragic event is unknown at this time,” read the statement. “Our family is devastated and trying to understand how and why this happened.”

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. MT on Wednesday as the 39-year-old was walking west along the sidewalk on 134th Avenue near 113A Street.

City of Edmonton officials spoke about a crash between a pedestrian and snow plow Thursday.

Officials say the driver is not at currently work and has been offered counselling.

A tragedy fund has been set up in her name. Donations can be made at any Royal Bank of Canada.
