A Pond Inlet woman recently gave out more than $10,000 in memory of her late brother.
Joanna Innualuk-Kunnuk received an inheritance when her brother died by suicide. She says she wanted to do something positive in his honour.
She also shared the money residents of Pond Inlet raised to have his body flown in from Iqaluit.
Innualuk-Kunnuk had a list of families in need and gave them each a $300 gift certificate.
She said she wanted to help people who are struggling and it touched her heart to be able to assist them.
Innualuk-Kunnuk says she also helped her family and some homeowners cover the cost of fuel.
She says her late brother’s personal belongings were donated to the men’s and women’s shelters in Iqaluit.
