Taylor Swift's Website Now Has a Countdown—and Fans Think New Music Is Coming Soon

If you’ve been paying close attention, Taylor Swift has been dancing around the idea that she’ll be releasing new music for a while now. Fans have been clocking her every move and theorizing about the next installment in Swift’s discography since 2017’s Reputation. And now, there’s a major clue that her next single—or possibly even an album—is on its way.

Last night, Swift’s website went through a massive overhaul. Now, the homepage is a giant clock counting down to April 26, complete with a background of pink clouds against what appears to be a blue sky. She also posted a version of the countdown to her Instagram Stories, captionless, leaving us all to wonder about the meaning. And it should be noted that 26 is Swift’s favorite number—13—multiplied by two, so she’s staying on brand here.

People have previously guessed that the new album will pivot from the snakes of Reputation or feature mermaids or butterflies. And while the new colors on the website certainly don’t seem to discredit those thoughts, we won’t know anything for certain until April 26 actually arrives.

However, that didn’t stop fans on social media from getting super excited at this latest development and starting a hashtag: #TaylorSwiftApril26. They also spotted billboards in major cities like New York and Tokyo with the countdown clock, as well as another website, AprilTwentySix.com, which will redirect you to TaylorSwift.com if you click on it. Hmmm.

Of course the Swifties are also combing the archives for further clues about what’s to come. “If the Halo theory is true can we take note that 2019 is 13 years of Taylor Swift,” one fan tweeted. “The wax seal stamped on April 13th is the same as the stamp beside Don’t Blame Me in the rep magazine printed in 2017. She’s really had this era planned for at least 2 years #TaylorSwiftApril26”

Better mark your calendars for April 26, Swifties.
