Alberta Premier Jason Kenney is scheduled to unveil Friday new help for the struggling oil and gas industry in the province.

Energy Minister Sonya Savage and Environment Minister Jason Nixon will also be at the event, billed in a release as “an announcement about actions to support the economy and the energy sector.”
Alberta-based oil companies have been laying off staff and reducing their spending in the wake of record low crude prices.
The low prices have been caused by a surplus in production globally coinciding with a plunge in demand sparked by the coronavirus pandemic.
