The Prime Minister has appointed two Edmontonians, including journalist Paula Simons, to the Senate.
The announcement was released Wednesday.
Simons is a columnist with the Edmonton Journal newspaper and the co-author of a history book on Alberta.
The other Edmonton appointee is Patti LaBoucane-Benson, who spent most of her career with the Native Counselling Services of Alberta.
A third new appointment is Peter Boehm of Ontario.
