A water main break near Jasper Avenue and 109th Street flooded the busy intersection Wednesday morning.
“We have a water crew on scene and motorists are probably wise to avoid that area,” said Epcor spokesperson Tim le Riche.
The water main break has also affected the power supply to some buildings near the intersection.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services has six crews at the scene, after responding to a call for alarms around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Fire crews evacuated buildings on 108th Street, between 100th Avenue and Jasper Avenue and closed the road. That stretch of road has also been closed to traffic, said Maya Filipovic, spokesperson for the fire service.
“The street is quite flooded in areas,” said fire spokesperson Maya Filipovic.
“When I was walking here from my car, there were spots where it was above my ankle, probably reaching my mid-shin,” she said. “But there are some spots where it’s not that deep.”
Edmonton Transit reported some water seeped into the two nearby LRT stations, Grandin and Corona, but the stations remain open and trains have not been affected.
Epcor is expected to provide an update later in the morning.
