Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Flew Coach on Their Flight to France

Let’s just be honest: One of the perks of marrying into the Royal Family is the luxury. The second you say “I do” to a royal, your life becomes instantly more glamorous, more fabulous—just more everything. That’s why the world is pretty jealous of Meghan Markle right now. The Suits actress and Prince Harry announced their engagement in late November, and their lives have been a swirl of photo ops, chic outfits, and even chicer trips ever since. And there’s no end in sight, either. Like, this is going to be Markle’s life forever: sipping tea with the queen, wearing designer outfits that sell out in minutes, and access to the best of everything. It’s just standard procedure—royal protocol, if you will.

Which is why the way Markle and Prince Harry traveled on their recent flight to France is pretty, uh, surprising. The couple decided to spend New Year’s Eve on the French Riviera, and they flew coach class to get there. In fact, they were seated next to toilets. The horror, am I right?

According to The Daily Mail, Markle and Prince Harry boarded their 9:55 A.M. flight to the French Riviera before the other passengers and went straight to the back of the plane, where they had three rows of seats—on both sides—to themselves. Well, them and three bodyguards, of course. They are royalty, after all.

Even still, six rows of seats for five people? That’s pretty luxe—even if it is an economy flight. Something tells me Prince Harry and Markle were more than comfortable on their trip, though. People were probably too starstruck to go to the bathroom, anyway.

Here’s to more relatable royal moments in 2018. They will certainly balance out the lavish wedding happening in just a few months.
