City working to clear buckets of snow that covered Edmonton overnight

A snowfall warning remains in effect for the Edmonton area, after buckets of snow covered the city overnight.

A total of 15 to 25 centimetres of the white stuff fell overnight, according to Environment Canada. The weather warning spans from Slave Lake to Edmonton.

All that snow made for a busy morning for City of Edmonton workers. City spokesperson Catherine Kuehne said 211 staff members worked to remove the snow.

In total, 72 snowplows and 16 sanders were called into action.

“We work on arterial and collector routes first,” Kuehne said in an email. “This includes bus routes, bus shelters and sidewalks. Our goal is keep Edmontonians moving.”

She asked drivers to give city workers room to work.

Edmonton Police are also reminding people to drive carefully and be patient on the roads.
