Edmonton Police are investigating a shooting Thursday evening that resulted in one person being sent to hospital with serious injuries.
West Division patrol members were called about an alleged break and enter, and subsequent shooting, at an address in Lewis Estates at about 8 p.m.
It’s alleged that a number of people broke into a home in the neighbourhood, and confronted a male occupant, said police in a news release.
The resident of the home got hold of a firearm and police say it’s alleged he fired one round seriously injuring a male suspect.
The remaining suspects, believed to be armed, then fled from the area on foot, police said.
Police maintain the incident was targeted, and the community is not in any danger at this time.
Anyone with information about this incident, or those involved, is encouraged to contact the EPS or Crime Stoppers.
