Sacked Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont has turned himself in to police, Belgium’s public broadcaster VRT said on Sunday, citing a source.
Belgian prosecutors, who have a European arrest warrant from Spain for Puigdemont and four of his associates, will soon brief the media on the case, VRT says.
The broadcaster says the four deposed cabinet ministers also reported to police.
They’re facing charges of sedition and rebellion following Catalonia’s declaration of independence on Oct. 27.
The central government in Madrid announced it would take direct control of the region as a result, and called new elections for Dec. 21. Puigdemont then fled to Belgium.
