Lorde's Response to People Hating on Her 'Unibrow' Is Perfect
It’s a fact universally recognized that Lorde is a boss. Even if you’re not a fan of her music, you’ve gotta admire the work ethic of someone who showed up to the VMAs with a fever and, not able to sing, still pulled out my favorite nationally televised award ceremony interpretative dance to date (the list admittedly isn’t long, but regardless). Her many accomplishments also include running an onion ring Instagram account, which just served to wedge her firmer into my heart. But lo and behold, she’s full of surprises: Lorde’s clapback to haters on Twitter reveals that she didn’t just happen across her current confidence.
With her Vogue Australia cover just hitting stands, the singer posted her cover looks to Twitter with a celebratory caption to the tune of “VOGUE BABY AHHH! ✨?☺️” (it’s unclear where the banana comes in, but hey, that’s Lorde). And then, she unleashed this: “It’s literally f-cked that I could be on the cover of Vogue [and] I used to get called monobrow at school. That BROW IS ON COVER OF VOGUE.”
From the tweet, it sounds like Lorde—Lorde—was bullied at school for her luscious eyebrows (or unibrow, as the case may be), and now she’s living it up on the cover of Vogue, which has to be up there in revenge schemes. And the world, full of pettiness in the best possible way, rejoiced. Tweet after tweet is here for Lorde’s comment, with fans thanking the singer for inspiring them (and, you know, serving her revenge in the most publicly satisfying way).
Lorde’s just the latest celebrity to speak out for her “imperfections,” joining Yara Shahidi, Paris Jackson, and Bella Thorne in doing what they want.
