A dead man found slumped inside a taxicab outside an Edmonton strip mall on Saturday died of gunshot wounds, Edmonton police have confirmed.
The death has been named the city’s 33rd homicide of 2017.
An autopsy has confirmed the cause of death, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Shardi Abdi Hassan, 23 was found in the front seat of a taxi parked outside a strip mall near 142nd Street and Yellowhead Trail.
Police arrived just before 5 a.m.
Hassan was pronounced dead at the scene and homicide detectives were called in.
The department released the victim’s name because it will serve “investigative purposes,” police said.
Detectives said they’re looking to speak with anyone who was standing outside the Flux Ultralounge at the time of the shooting.
