Charges pending in case of boy found wandering down Edmonton street, say police

Edmonton police say charges are pending after a boy was found wandering the streets of Edmonton  Thursday afternoon.

Police say he was found walking alone on the street near Knottwood Road E. and 13th Avenue between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

During the search for his parents, police indicated the boy was between two and three years old. 

A family member and a friend contacted police  Friday morning at  6 a.m. with information that helped officers identify the boy and locate his parents, police said in a news release  Friday.

Investigators have provided no further details on the nature of the allegations in the case but were expected to provide more details  Friday morning.  Acting Staff Sgt. Jerrid Maze was scheduled to hold a news conference at the Southeast Division building at  9:30 a.m.
