RCMP are investigating a potential threat that put a Stony Plain high school under precautionary lockdown Thursday.
Police were notified of “a potential threat directed toward a student” at 1 p.m. and began investigating in the area around Memorial Composite High School, they said in a news release.
Parents were notified of the potential threat.
The school was put under lockdown at 3:15 p.m. while police cleared the school looking for the suspect. The lockdown was lifted at 3:45 p.m.
No students, staff or members of the public were considered to be at risk.
The threat is the latest made toward a school in the Edmonton area. Earlier this month, one student was arrested after threats were made against Bev Facey high school in Sherwood Park.
In October, two people were arrested after threats were made against several schools, including Harry Ainlay High School and J. Percy Page High School. Another person was arrested the next day after threats were made against Ottewell School.
Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Enoch RCMP are continuing to investigate the threat made against Memorial Composite High School and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
