An Edmonton man faces human trafficking charges for forcing a woman to work in the sex trade across the Prairies beginning last year, police say.
The 25-year-old is accused of forcing a woman in her early 20s to travel to cities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta to be a sex worker.
He faces 10 charges, including trafficking in persons, material benefit from sexual services and advertising sexual services.
He’s also been charged with firearms-related offences, including possessing an unauthorized firearm and careless storage of a firearm.
Edmonton police started investigating the man in November.
Police arrested the man at a northeast Edmonton home on Dec. 5.
Police believe more women may have been forced into prostitution by the accused.
They’re urging these women to get in touch with Edmonton police.
