An American citizen wanted in connection with the killing of an Edmonton man last year has been turned over to Edmonton police at a border crossing in British Columbia.
U.S. marshals turned over Jason Steadman to Edmonton police homicide detectives at the Douglas, B.C., border crossing on Thursday.
After he crossed the border, Steadman, 41, was arrested on Canada-wide warrants for first-degree murder and arson.
Steadman was scheduled to appear in a Vancouver courtroom Friday. Edmonton police said they are not providing further information because the investigation is ongoing.

Alberta’s attorney-general and Edmonton police requested Steadman be extradited from the United States to Canada on a first-degree murder charge.
Demkiw was last seen leaving his place of work near 149th Street and 128th Avenue at about 4 a.m. on May 31, 2015.
His vehicle was discovered burning and abandoned in Calgary later that morning.
His remains were found April 5, 2016, near Innisfail.
His death is considered Edmonton’s 19th homicide of 2015.
