Princess Beatrice and Dave Clark Break Up After a Decade of Dating

Princess Beatrice and her beau have called it quits. 

The famous daughter of Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson has broken up with her longtime boyfriend, Uber executive Dave Clark.

Prince William‘s cousin, who turned 28 years old today, first met Clark in 2006 at a party thrown by actor Pierce Brosnan‘s son, Sean Brosnan, where William introduced the two. They began dating soon after, igniting wide speculation that they would be the next royal couple to wed.  

Since William and Kate briefly broke up in 2007 before reuniting and getting engaged in 2010, some reports suggest Beatrice and Dave’s breakup may be similar, and therefore, not permanent. 

Princess Beatrice is currently seventh in line to the throne behind Princess Charlotte, who was born in May 2015. As royal law decrees, only the first six in line to the thrown must obtain Queen Elizabeth II‘s permission to marry. 

Despite the couple’s uncertain future together, he got Ferguson’s public stamp of approval. Beatrice’s mom even nicknamed the American businessman “Mr. Smiley.” 

“I’m really proud that he’s with Beatrice,” she previously told People. “Beatrice is so special, it takes someone very nice to be with her—to appreciate how good she is.”
