A man is dead after the vehicle he was riding in rear-ended a truck in a construction zone two kilometres east of Hinton on Sunday.
RCMP say a Ford F-150 pickup drove into a back of a crew truck in the westbound lane of Highway 16 around 5 p.m.
The Ford truck with four people inside ended up in the centre meridian with extensive damage to the front.
One passenger, a 25-year-old man from Grande Prairie, died at the scene.
The driver, 51, and a female passenger, 19, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital in Edmonton. A 10-month-old baby was taken to a local hospital and released to family.
The impact of the collision caused the crew truck to roll over in the ditch. Two workers were extricated and sent to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police say there was a signboard leading up to the construction zone that diverted traffic into a single lane and warned drivers to slow down.
