Drugs, weapons seized and charges laid after two Edmonton search warrants


A man and a woman face more than a dozen charges each after police seized drugs, weapons, cash and stolen property while executing search warrants at two homes in Edmonton.

Police searched the first residence, in the area of 74th Street and 80th Avenue, on July 30. Inside, they found 36 grams of methamphetamine, 96 pills including oxycodone and morphine, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Weapons were also found during the search, including three swords, replica firearms, a throwing star, shotgun ammunition and a crossbow. 

A second search at a residence neat 153rd Street and 44th Avenue was done in the early hours of Aug. 1.

Police found 92 grams of methamphetamine, almost 1,500 prescription pills, and crack cocaine. A sword, replica firearms, ammunition, about $5,200 in cash and two stolen mountain bikes were also seized during that search.

A man and woman tried to flee the residence as police executed the search warrant.

A 45-year-old woman faces 18 drug, weapons and stolen property charges in relation to the investigation. A 43-year-old man faces the same charges, as well as three counts of breach of recognizance.
