The skies are dark and the thunder is roaring across central Alberta.
Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for numerous towns and cities, including Edmonton, Sherwood Park ,Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Morinvillle, Big Lake and Villeneuve.

There have been reports of flash flooding and power outages across Edmonton. The line of thunderstorms appears to stretch from Villeneuve, 30 kilometres northwest of Edmonton, to Viking, about 130 kilometres southeast of the capital.
“There are multiple outages around Edmonton that are weather related,” said Epcor spokesman Tim le Riche.
He said the company is working to restore power as quickly as possible.

“Whenever we get high wind, lightning, heavy rain that’s going to cause power outages,” said le Riche. “It always does.
Flash flooding has also been reported across the city.
