An RCMP officer has been suspended from duty after being charged with fraud.
RCMP say the officer, a corporal with the Slave Lake detachment, misused a government credit card while on duty in Elk Point, Alta. between 2013 and 2015.
He has been charged with one count each of fraud and theft under $5,000.
He’s been suspended from duty until the charges against him are resolved. RCMP say the decision to suspend was based on standard practices and is not a disciplinary measure.
An internal code of conduct investigation is underway.
