A group of people in Regina protesting living conditions on reserves in Canada says it’s not going anywhere.
The protest camp for the group Colonialism No More has been set up in front of the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada office on Albert Street since April, marking more than 70 days.
“We’ve gone through hot, hot, hot days. We’ve gone through windy days where things blew down. We’ve gone through the whole gamut,” said protestor Sue Deranger.
The camp includes tents and teepees, but the protesters says the building’s landlord is asking them to fold up their tents and leave, except for one teepee.
“He brought us this plan we could collaborate on, only it meant all the tents went and the teepee could stay with the grass around it,” Deranger said.

CBC Saskatchewan was in contact with the landlord, who wouldn’t confirm whether he did ask the protesters to leave.
“He knows why we’re here, he knows what we’re doing,” Deranger said.
“We’re tired of the suicides. We’re tired of the poverty, the water that’s not drinkable,” Deranger said about living conditions on reserves.
INAC said it has met with the group eight times over the past two months. The group is refusing to move until it sees some progress on its requests.
